DESCRIPTION

Confirmed level

Aimed at the experienced visual observer and astrophotographer, this practical guide collects more than 700 deep sky objects, associating a photograph of each with its own characteristics such as its position, its constellation, its dimensions, its magnitude, its distance ...and even the interference filters to use for the precise observation of a given nebula.

It has around 550 galaxies, 120 nebulae and 130 star clusters, all observable over a full year.

Created by an amateur astronomer for amateur astronomers, this guide allows an efficient, fun and clever search for galaxies, nebulae and other clusters...

The book is supplemented with observation advice, sky maps*, photographic plates, a user manual, and contains many other things...

It includes all Messier objects, classified by season, NGC and IC objects.

The work cleverly integrates different ways to easily and quickly find the same celestial object thanks to the various classifications:

  • classification of objects by constellation
  • classification of Messiers by season and by number
  • sorted by name, if applicable
  • classification of NGC objects in numerical order

Knowing in advance the real appearance of an object thanks to its photography makes all the difference when it comes to finding its shape through the eyepiece.

Managing to spot a deep sky object is child's play with this essential atlas.

- Usable visually with an instrument of 250 mm or more.

- For any experienced visual observer and any astrophotographer.

* About star charts...

They mention the location of celestial objects among the constellations, named by their abbreviation. The pages are turned according to the seasons (also indicated on the maps) to fuel your nights of observations.

Each deep sky object is represented by a clearly identifiable colored pictogram to know straight away whether you are dealing with a planetary or diffuse nebula, a galaxy, an open cluster or a globular cluster.

As for the pictograms of the galaxies, their shape, their respective size as well as their orientation are faithfully respected on each map. The pictograms are stamped with their Messier or NGC catalog number.

Finally, find in the legend of the sky maps, a miniature representation of the map, indicating the pages of the PSA* to refer to if necessary... 99.9% of the time, the NGC ATLAS Photographic maps are sufficiently detailed to locate an object with a telescope.

* PSA → Pocket Sky Atlas©: cartographic atlas of the deep sky.

The difference in level expressed between the ATLAS NGC and the Fascinating Deep Sky is based solely on the number of celestial objects offered (2x more in the NGC ATLAS).
